Farm Fresh Rutabaga Chips
I love cooking and recipe testing, especially with fresh ingredients. I am super excited to be collaborating with Mount Wolfe Forest Farm (a farm close to home and ran by a friend) to create farm fresh locally sourced recipes.
This week I picked up some beautiful rutabagas and decided to recipe test by making 'rutabaga chips,' and they turned out great! I also got to use my newest kitchen toy the starfrit spiralizer (only $20 at Walmart). I am now obsessed and can't wait to spiralize more veggies!
Rutabagas are an excellent source of vitamin C and potassium, they are also a good source of fibre, b vitamins, and calcium! So, munch away on these babies!
Ingredients:
2 rutabagas, peeled
2 tbsp. olive oil
½ tsp. dried oregano
½-1 tsp. salt
½ -1 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. chili pepper flakes
½ tsp. garlic powder
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 F. Using a slicer (e.g. starfrit spiralizer), thinly slice 2 rutabagas.
Alternatively, use a different slicer or sharp knife and slice as thinly as possible.
In a bowl, drizzle with olive oil and spices. Mix together well.
Place coated rutabaga slices on an aluminum foil lined tray and bake for approximately 40 minutes. Flip half way through.
*To get them as crispy as possible, ensure the edges begin to brown*
Enjoy! :)
Wishing everyone a wonderful long weekend!
Until next time,
